WEATHER:
A Cool Day after a Cold Night, with a Temp of 12°C & a North Westerly Gusty Wind

With the bad weather and poor forecast the turn out for this match was poor at only fourteen. The match turned out to be one of the closest run for a long time with only 5 lbs separating the first six places. The morning started cold and it never really got warm all day at about 12 degrees. The wind from the north west increased as the match progressed and the last hour of the match was accompanied by winds of nearly 20 mph making long pole fishing very difficult indeed.

After the draw the order to Paddle to your peg was given. The driest pegs had been sorted, but many pegs on pool 4 needed waders to reach. I felt sorry for Roy Biddulph ( Mr. Consistency) who forgot his boots and fished the whole match in his shoes covered by water and yes he still weighed in nearly 30 lbs.

Unlike last week the pellet did not work well with most fish coming to corn, meat or maggot. Even including two D.N.W.s both on pool 3 the average weight per man was 24 lbs, very reasonable for mid October. Pool 4 proved to be even more consistent with an average weight of 27 lbs per man, the lowest being 19 lbs.

After the match the consensus of opinion was that the pools are the fairest venue and that next weeks match should be again on Pools 2 3 & 4 using pool 2 only if the turn out goes up.

Any suggestions for using any of the other waters if agreed by the majority and if available will be implemented.

Thanks this week are extended to Ken Gilchrist and Dave Rimmer who completed the weigh in and Tom Roberts for his help with the Draw and for time keeping.

The match organiser will allocate the scales pegs on the day.
